Nuà

“Just as the word designates the body, the symphony designates the spirit”. Hildegard von Bingen

NUÀ was born from the need to unite heritage, dance, and music. Thanks to the Dansàneu Festival, which takes place in the Catalan Pyrenees, this commission came to life. The premiere was held in the Romanesque church of Sant Pere de Sorpe, a village located in the Vall d’Àneu. Its paintings contain one of the most significant examples of Romanesque art in Catalonia, the originals of which are currently housed in the MNAC (National Art Museum of Catalonia).

NUÀ premiered at the Dansàneu Festival on July 3, 2018.

A voice, Anaïs Oliveras, and a body, Raquel Gualtero—through musical pieces from the 11th and 12th centuries—uncover some of the most invisible female composers of the time, reconnecting with their movements and inventing new ones.
