Raquel Gualtero Soriano

Raquel Gualtero Soriano is a dancer, choreographer, and creator with an international career in contemporary dance. She graduated in 2005 from the Hoogeschool voor de Kunsten – Theater School in Amsterdam and, the following year, received the danceWEB scholarship at the ImpulsTanz Festival in Vienna.

She has collaborated with renowned companies such as Scottish Dance Theater (Scotland), Compagnia Zappalà (Italy), Fabulous Beast Dance Theater (England), and Romeo Castellucci (Italy). In Spain, she has worked with directors such as Àngels Margarit (Capricis, Mercat de les Flors) and Àlex Rigola (Tragèdia, Grec Festival). She also participated in the revival of Julius Caesar, which toured across Italy.

Since moving to Barcelona in 2015, she has developed a wide range of artistic collaborations with Pere Faura (Sweet Tyranny), Janet Novas (Imagine 5 cuerpos y ninguno era el mío), Vero Cendoya (La Partida), and Agrupación Señor Serrano, among others. Her exploration of visual arts led her to collaborate with artist Agustín Ortiz on Animalia Paradoxa.

As a choreographer, she has created works such as Blanco (2005), Persona (Injuve Award 2011), Brut (2018), Nuà, and Panorama (2021). Her latest creation, 360º, awarded the APDC Best Costume Design Prize, premiered at Fira Tàrrega and evolved into Reactiva 360º, a video-mapping version presented at the Casablanca International Video Art Festival. The full-length stage version, Complete Revolution, will debut at the Grec Festival 2025.

Beyond her stage work, Raquel is engaged in educational and community projects. She has developed inclusive performances with diverse groups in Barcelona and adapted her solo Panorama for students at the Conservatori Superior de Dansa de Barcelona. She is currently a teacher in the SUDANSA program, bringing dance education to schools.

Her work has been presented at festivals and theaters across Europe, Africa, and Latin America.
