Castells a l’aire

Castells a l’aire, a project for ‘Creation and Museums’ at the 2022 Grec Festival in Barcelona

Since 2019, we have been collaborating in the experimental research of choreographic languages. The processes we have developed, such as La rebelión de las aburridas, are explorations through dance. We aim to exhaust intuitions, concepts, and movements through insistence, generating transformations and questions with the practice itself. The persistence in these questions, dancing them, leads us to seek the potential in the places and landscapes where we are. The recurring question, “What are the limits?”, makes us insist on the exhaustion of bodies, the stage, and spaces.

In the summer of 2022, we deployed this practical methodology in a site-specific project at the Castell de Montjuïc. Castells a l’aire is a choreographic device, a journey where the audience observes five scenes. Taking advantage of the architectural possibilities of the Castell de Montjuïc as a viewpoint, we activate five perspectives. We transform our choreographic research to inhabit these landscapes with different perspectives of dance.

When you look at a landscape, your eye enters it, and you become part of it; at that moment, you do not question time.
